our approach
We make our instruments entirely by hand, working from our own designs, combining traditional joinery skills and techniques from the boat-building industry. We select high quality hardwood from sustainable sources and use a pickup system which is unique and we make ourselves. We specify fittings from the best manufacturers in the industry.
the details
The skeletal body can be made from mahogany or tulipwood. Using a single piece of wood from head to tail with an intricate series of holes allows the body to be lightweight but very strong. An ebony fingerboard of the highest quality is fitted. Each instrument is finished with a high quality polyurethane varnish or alternatively we can provide a wide range of fantastic coloured finishes.
the result
The instrument looks like a twenty first century design but feels entirely familiar to play.
making the instrument your own
We make all of our instruments to order and offer a range of options so that customers can customise their instrument. Each of our models is available in a choice of wood: mahogany or tulipwood. Instruments are custom made either to our ‘standard’ size (derived from a fine Italian instrument) or to the exact dimensions of your acoustic instrument.
aftercare
Every Starfish electric instrument comes with a DI box, professional quality lead terminating in Neutrik jack plugs and a five-year guarantee from the date of purchase that covers all problems excluding accidental damage and normal wear-and-tear (including string breakages). Because they are made-to-order there is a waiting list: please contact us for details.
